Best Insoles for Club Foot

Best Insoles for Club Foot

Overview

Clubfoot is a congenital condition that usually happens 1 in every 1,000 children. Early treatment and proper compliance with custom-made insoles or braces are excellent at fully correcting the deformity. However, if you are an adult and have one of these symptoms such as: walking on the ankles or the side of your feet, curled toes, painful calluses, or chronic pain, you run the risk of recurring the condition. In such cases, insoles for clubfoot are an affordable, non-surgical, and low-maintenance tool to restore your normal gait.

How We Test

To find the best insoles for this category, we selected patients having mild to moderate levels of idiopathic clubfoot. A total test time of 1430 hours was allocated for 5 months. While testing the insoles, a few patients with non-isolated clubfoot/specific neuromuscular conditions were also asked (under podiatrist guidance) to try and test for compatible insoles. While the latter required a longer course, they experienced significant relief with insoles for clubfoot.

Things to Consider for insoles for Clubfoot

Clubfoot can be congenital or idiopathic. It can also be due to certain neuromuscular disorders. While buying insoles for clubfoot, do note that your insoles should at least have:

  • Rigid/ semi-rigid cushioning.

  • Advanced shock absorption capabilities.

  • Heel cup that prevents the heel from rolling.

The condition can be successfully treated using custom insoles and other non-surgical methods. However, this is only possible when it is detected and diagnosed early. It is also important to mention here that custom insoles for clubfoot are always a better option for this special condition.
